On construction sites, proper water quality management is not just a matter of regulatory compliance, but more importantly a real impact on the environment and the efficiency of daily operations. In this case study, we show how remote water quality monitoring using automated sensors and JUMO Cloud's IoT process management platform allowed the client to completely eliminate manual data collection, avoid errors and save valuable team time. Learn how centralized management of measurement data streamlined site operations, ensuring compliance with environmental standards. Read the case study and learn the details of this application!
Our client is a company that comprehensively handles waste management and water treatment at construction sites. Although its standards are based on the Swiss SIA 431 standard, the challenges of water quality management also apply to Polish realities, regulated primarily by environmental standards set forth in, among other things, the Water Law and environmental regulations (e.g., the Regulation of the Minister of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation on the conditions for discharging wastewater into water or into the ground).
The company was facing the problem of time-consuming manual transfer of data on key water quality parameters - such as pH, NTU (turbidity) and flow. Previously, employees had to regularly copy measurement data from multiple devices to separate USB flash drives, which consumed time and posed the risk of archiving mistakes. It was important for the client to automate this process by transferring the data directly to a single, centralized system in the cloud. This would not only reduce work time, but also guarantee full compliance with current environmental regulations, eliminating the risk of errors when managing data manually. The client's goal was also to upgrade existing water quality monitoring systems to work with a modern solution such as the JUMO Cloud platform. Ultimately, the idea was to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and simplify the entire water quality management process, in compliance with current Polish legal requirements.
Effective management of water quality data at construction sites requires automation of measurements and centralization of information in a single cloud system.
We began the implementation by installing a set of precision sensors that continuously monitor the most important indicators of water quality: pH electrodes, turbidity sensors (NTU) and flow meters. Each of these sensors continuously records measurement results, which then go wirelessly to a special communication gateway (gateway). This gateway automatically transmits the collected data directly to the JUMO Cloud platform, where real-time data is available for online viewing from anywhere.
With this solution, the customer has constant and convenient access to all measurement results - both current and historical. It is no longer necessary to manually rip data from individual devices to a USB flash drive. Simply log in to JUMO Cloud to quickly and conveniently check real-time water quality parameters, analyze trends or generate the necessary report as required by environmental standards.

With the implementation of the JUMO Cloud system, the customer immediately noticed a significant improvement in daily work. Employees stopped wasting time manually transferring data from various devices to USB flash drives - now everything happens automatically, and data is available immediately, without unnecessary delays and the risk of human error.
Importantly, automatic monitoring of water quality parameters (pH,turbidity, flow) allows a company to react quickly whenever values deviate from environmental standards (e.g., in accordance with SIA 431). This allows the company to instantly take appropriate action, minimizing the risk of violating environmental regulations.
Reporting has also proven to be a great convenience. All data is transparently presented in the cloud, which significantly speeds up report generation and simplifies audits. Employees have gained convenient access to up-to-date information that allows them to make key decisions related to water quality management at construction sites faster. This has made the entire process more efficient and less stressful.
Above all, the JUMO Cloud gives stability and complete data storage security. It gives the customer the confidence that all key water quality measurements - such as pH, turbidity (NTU) or flow - are reliably archived, with no risk of loss or falsification of information. Importantly, access to the data is very convenient, as it can be accessed from anywhere, including via phone or tablet at the construction site. An additional advantage is the ease of integration with already existing measurement systems, making implementation fast and seamless. As a result, the customer can immediately focus on process optimization and ongoing water quality control, instead of worrying about technical issues.
